The Trinidad moruga scorpion pepper is a chili pepper and cultivar of Capsicum chinense whose origins are found in Moruga, Trinidad and Tobago. The pepper earned its name due to the pointed tail it carries once it has reached maturity. With its Scoville rating ranging from 1,200,000 to 2,000,000 SHU, the scorpion pepper carries an intense heat far surpassing the likes of habanero. It is highly regarded for its culinary applications due its to heat but as well as its fruity undertones making it an ideal pairing with tropical fruits. The pepper is an excellent source of vitamin C.
